Keeping  turtles as pets has seen a resurgence in popularity over the last several years. In the Mid-Atlantic region, outdoor habitats can be installed to house several varieties of aquatic and terrestrial turtles year-round. A proper setup will usually include a pond and basking areas, as well as terrestrial garden beds. Another requirement is an enclosure or perimeter barrier for the entire habitat that will protect the turtles from predators, as well as keep them from wandering off.
